50 years of student media
This year, we at the Print would like to wish the college a happy 50th birthday and in doing so would like to also recognize the Print for reporting on the college for the last 50 years. The Clackamas Print is a non-profit, student run newspaper that since 1966 has kept the students, staff and our community up-to-date on what’s going on at Clackamas Community College.
We have recorded CCC’s history for the past five decades including arts, sports and news coverage. As the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics states, The Clackamas Print believes that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy.
The Print strives to always maintain ethical journalism, ensuring the free exchange of accurate and unbiased information. In an era where print publications continue to be phased out for cheaper methods of reporting, The Clackamas Print continues to stay strong in maintaining a weekly physical newspaper. We have also made large efforts to keep up with the industry and were recently awarded first place for best website among two year schools of 2016 by the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association, along with 14 other awards.
Each year The Print offers opportunities for students to receive scholarships, learn from professionals in the industry while also getting hands on experience designing, writing and photographing for a weekly published newspaper. We will continue to produce high-quality journalism with coverage of news and events on and around campus for years to come.
